Taking insulin for 50+ years
On October 3rd, Merle Willfang was honoured at Hanover Hospital with the Novo Nordisk half century award. The award is presented to individuals living with type 1 diabetes who have been taking insulin for 50+ years. Living well with type 1 diabetes requires courage and perseverance, and for over 50+ years Merle has maintained a positive “can do” attitude. Attending regular appointments and receiving education and support from Shelley Adams RD, and Chantelle Walker, RN both certified diabetes educators from Diabetes Grey Bruce has helped Merle to better self-manage. Dr. Becks an endocrinologist who has been involved in Merle’s care both in London and now at Hanover Hospital presented her with the half century award.
On behalf of everyone from Hanover Hospital and from Diabetes Grey Bruce we wish to extend our heartfelt congratulations!!
